The body of an elderly York woman missing for ten days has been found in the River Ouse at Goole. A Goole Police underwater search team found the body, which was identified as that of 71-year-old Gladys Paylor by dental records.
The pensioner was last seen at her Clifton home on Monday, October 2, and now police are trying to piece together what happened between then and Wednesday lunchtime, when her body was found.
A spokesman for North Yorkshire Police said the intervening time was "a complete blank".
Police say they are not treating the death as suspicious. A post mortem examination is to take place before next week, when an inquest is likely to be opened and adjourned.
