AN AUCTION of promises, organised by the chairman of Ryedale District Council, David Cussons, has raised over £5,000 for Macmillan Nurses and St Catherine's Hospice.
Coun Cussons said: "The generosity of so many people made this event the huge success it was and I would like to thank everyone who added their support. "I am absolutely delighted that so much money was raised through the event, which was a lot of hard work but also a lot of fun to organise."
A spokesperson for Macmillan Nurses said: "Every penny counts and is put to very good use, so naturally we are very grateful for this donation."
