THE parent company of Ryedale's biggest employer, Malton Bacon Factory, has changed its name from Unigate to UNIQ.
The name-change follows the recent sale of Unigate's milk and cheese division to Dairy Crest.
A spokesman said the name change did not have implications for the factory, which employs 2,500 people.
He said Unigate was formed in 1959 from a merger of United Dairies and Cow & Gate.
The bacon factory in Malton, which opened in the 1930s, was bought by Unigate in 1979.
