YORKSHIRE-BASED contractors Metcalf Farms put their new Claas Jaguar 900 to the test for the first time in a field of Nancis forage maize at the farm of A and K Wielkopolski at St Helen's Farm, Seaton Ross, recently.
The Claas 900 is the biggest forage harvester in the UK. The maize crop, says Penny Mason, from KW Alternative Feeds, is one of the earliest in the area with very good cob maturity. It yielded around 1.5 tonnes per acre of fresh weight. For more details, contact Penny Mason on (01765) 677802.
