SPIRIT of Park, unbeaten in two races over hurdles, can complete a hat-trick tomorrow - provided Wetherby's opening meeting of the season survives a 3pm inspection today.
The three-year-old is set to make the journey from Lennie Lungo's Scottish yard to contest thehorsesmouth.co.uk Juvenile Novices' hurdle, and is fancied to defy a double penalty.
Spirit Of Park got off the mark in heavy ground at Perth last month before following up in impressive style at Kelso.
He faces a stiff task under a total of 14lb in penalties tomorrow, but this fast improving horse can put his experience to good use. Bruce Gibson again has the mount.
Jonjo O'Neill, who has his horses in cracking form, can clinch the Tetley's Bitter Novices Handicap Chase with Sleepy River.
The nine-year-old is not the most consistent performer, but he has a definite chance here of winning if he produces his best form. Significantly, top jockey Norman Williamson has been booked for the mount.
Lurgoe can win for O'Neill, in thehorsesmouth.co.uk Novices' Handicap Hurdle.
A consistently placed performer, Lurgo is not the easiest of horses to win with, but he has proved his well-being recently, along with many of his Cumbrian stablemates.
The Bobby Renton Handicap Chase has cut up to only four runners and best of the quartet could be Korakor, trained by Tim Easterby. Recruited from France last season, the six-year-old showed definite signs of ability and left the distinct impression that better things were in store. He can kick off his new term on a winning note here.
Mary Reveley has a wonderful record on this course and she can score with Busted Flat in the Rocom Handicap Hurdle.
The seven-year-old was victorious on this course last season and, still well handicapped, he can pick up the winning thread again tomorrow.
Despite missing all last season, Belisario, a newcomer to Mick Easterby's yard, is unlikely to be found wanting for fitness in the Wetherby Conference & Banqueting Novices Hurdle. Tony Dobbin has been booked for the mount on this former decent bumper horse.
With tomorrow's meeting at Haydock called off because of waterlogging, the only other Flat racing will be Lingfield's all-weather track programme.
Michael Wigham, the former Ryedale jockey now training in Newmarket, has good prospects of scoring with Pengamon in the John Menzies plc Handicap. The eight-year-old has previously won on this course.
Otime is another Wigham runner who merits plenty of respect in division one of the W H Smith Group plc claiming stakes.
Hambleton trainer Les Eyre sends Ptah all the way to Surrey and I think Francis Norton's mount has excellent prospects of opening his winning account by landing the Telegraph Group plc maiden handicap following his neck defeat over this course and distance last month. He is awarded the Nap vote.
