The Focus Fireplaces York and District Table Tennis League began with the big question being whether the larger balls being used would affect the results.
However, with most having gone with the old form-book, it would appear not.
The size of the league has been cut to four divisions, and in division one, champions Sessions 'A' beat Fulford Road WMC 'A' 8-2, Chris Nicholls and Mick Willcockson each winning three for Sessions.
Mick Fenby won all three for Coneysthorpe 'B' in their 6-4 win over Poppleton 'A'. Richard Moss played well for Poppleton to win two as did Steve Ayres.
Ian Stansfield's three games were enough to see Coneysthorpe 'A' beat York RI 'B' 6-4.
The doubles win by York RI 'A' saw them beat Bootham CC 'A' 6-4, Trevor Wright and Richard Crowther each taking two for RI and Jo Suchecki and Paul Eastwood two each for Bootham.
In division two, Nestl Rowntree 'A' had a 7-3 win over promoted York INL 'C', Keith Webster winning three for Nestl and Chris Hutchinson two for INL, while Brian Walton and John Elliott each won three as York RI 'D' beat Poppleton 'C' 7-3.
Eddie Wardman was unbeaten for Fulford Road WMC 'B' in their 8-2 win over Bootham CC 'C'. All the Poppleton 'B' players won two each as they swept to a 7-3 win over British Telecom 'A'.
Sessions 'C' hammered York RI 'E' 10-0 in division three, while Jim Logan was unbeaten as Terry's beat Bootham 'D' 7-3.
Malcolm Haswell won all three for Coneysthorpe 'C', who beat Poppleton 'E' 7-3, and Richard Day did likewise for South Bank SC but still finished on the losing side as Shepherds 'A' won 6-4.
Steve Potter's three wins helped York INL 'D' to a 5-5 draw with Bootham CC 'E'.
Richard Falkingham won all three to help two-man Poppleton 'D' draw 5-5 with Northern Electric.
Geoff and Richard Leafe were unbeaten for York RI 'G' in a 9-1 win over CGNU 'B' in division four.
Pete Miller and Alan Milner won all three for Shepherds 'B' in a 9-1 win over York RI 'H', while Betty Norman and Dennis Chapman each won three as York RI 'F' beat Police 8-2. Colin Dickson was unbeaten for Fulford Road WMC 'C' in their 8-2 win over Nestl Rowntree 'C'.
