North Yorkshire police's former finance director, who was sacked after an internal disciplinary hearing, is to take his case to an employment tribunal.
Rob Davies, who was a civilian, and responsible for a police budget of £78 million, was suspended then dismissed from the force following accusations concerning alleged fraud when he worked for his previous employers, a food firm.
But the criminal case against him at Lincoln Crown Court - that he had conspired to defraud a government agency, the Intervention Board, while finance director of the Beck Food Group - was dropped this week, when the prosecution offered no evidence.
Following the end of the prosecution against Mr Davies, it emerged today that he will pursue the matter of his job at an employment tribunal. The hearing was to have taken place in Newcastle in November, but will not now take place until the New Year.
A spokesman for North Yorkshire police said: "We cannot comment because an employment tribunal is pending."
