SNAPPY is not the only organisation of its kind in York for children and young adults with special needs.
There are several others which are run with dedicated staff and volunteers.
Some of the other organisations are Riding for the Disabled, PHAB and Gateway on Fulford Road every Tuesday night.
Gateway raises all its own funds and is run by dedicated volunteers and staff. I write as the daughter of one of those dedicated volunteers and also as an occasional helper myself.
Please rectify the comments which stated that SNAPPY is the only organisation of its kind in York because this not the case.
Miss Jennifer Hood,
Don Avenue,
Dringhouses, York.
...WITH all the recent publicity given to SNAPPY perhaps it is time to look at the exorbitant amount of money poured into this social and leisure group.
We should be looking at all the other groups which cater for these young people such as swimming, horse riding, dancing and The Gateway Club for Young People, of which I am a volunteer.
These all function on a shoestring. Any of these facilities would be delighted if they were to receive a small donation now and again. So now is the time to look at SNAPPY and see where savings can be made.
Mrs D Mowforth,
Geldof Road,
Huntington, York.
