THE man who has just won the Ernst and Young Northern Region Entrepreneur of the Year award is pitching for the Business Personality of the Year in the Evening Press Business Awards.
He is Nader Haghighi, whose Parisa Group Ltd, which owns Booze Buster stores in York, Selby, Pocklington, Acomb and Batley as well as Wine Cellar operations in York, Filey and Richmond, is also entering our Innovative Use of New Technology Award. Mr Haghighi arrived from Iran at the age of 19 to study medicine, became a stock person at Thresher Wine Merchants to pay his way, but ended up becoming its managing director when it became Cellar 5 in 1994. It later became Greenall Cellars and following a management buy out led by him three years ago, it was re-titled the Parisa Group, which also owns Parisa Caf bars bearing the distinctive Parisian revolutionary logo (above).
