YORK City new boy Kieron Durkan has vowed to rise to the challenge and keep the Minstermen's supply lines to the front flowing.
Charged by York boss Terry Dolan with providing the ammunition for his goal shy team, Durkan, signed on a month's loan from Division Three rivals Macclesfield Town, claimed he was unfazed by the responsibility.
"It is why I am here," he told the Evening Press. "Last season with Macclesfield I set up a lot for Ritchie Barker and John Askey, that is where most of our goals came from, and I just hope I can carry on with that here."
With wideman Durkan whipping in the crosses from the right Barker and Askey certainly proved themselves a potent duo, sharing 31 goals.
And the former Republic of Ireland Under-21 international also showed a keen eye for goal himself, finishing as the Silkmen's top scorer behind Barker and Askey.
"I got six goals last year and from out wide that is not bad but setting goals up and getting crosses in is really my main game," insisted Durkan, who after just one training session with his new team mates admitted he was looking forward to linking up with Alex Mathie.
"We worked on a few things in training and I can see already what a good player he is," he said.
Despite City's lowly position Durkan, who scored against the Minstermen last season, said he was grateful for the opportunity of first team football after being largely frozen out at Moss Rose.
"We played 4-4-2 last year and we looked threatening but conceded a few goals," he explained.
"This season the manager (Peter Davenport) has gone 4-5-1 which is a lot more defensively minded to try and stop the goals going in.
"He is just changing the system around and wants to bring his own players in.
"Sammy McIlroy signed me, and the lads that Sammy signed he seems keen to get rid off and bring in his own players and build his own team.
"That's fair enough because he is the manager and if it means me moving on then I feel I have come to a better club anyway."
Durkan, who began his career with Wrexham before moving to Stockport and then Macclesfield, said he would be delighted if his month-long could be made permanent.
"I would be made up. I need a fresh start and hopefully this is it.
"It's a decent club and having just met the lads they are a decent set too," he said.
"I know quite a few of them already like Mark Sertori, Craig Skinner and Marc Williams."
At 26 years of age, Durkan has yet to reach his peak and maintained his ambitions still burn bright.
"Obviously you want to get as high as you can.
"I made my debut at 17 with Wrexham so I have been playing quite a while.
"I played a lot of my career in the Second Division but won promotion to the First with Stockport County
"I had a season in the First but broke my ankle and got back in at the end before Macc came in for me.
"They were at the top of the Third going into the Second and it proved a good move until this season when it hasn't really worked out for me for one reason or another.
