Community music group Voice of the Drum will bring the sound of the savannah to York on Saturday through Senegalese drummer and teacher Magette Dieng.
The York-based group is celebrating this week after receiving a National Lottery grant. It means it will be able to make its music accessible to more people.
"We are really pleased," said musician Rosie Cartwright. "We now want to encourage as many people as possible to come along and join in, particularly the disabled, families and young people."
The workshop, at the Priory Community Centre, runs between 3.30pm and 5.30pm, with a performance between 7pm and 9pm. All are welcome. Instruments are provided but you can bring your own. For more information and price details phone 01904 414683.
