A YORK man has been appointed chairman of the building surveying division of the Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors' (RICS) Yorkshire branch.

Stephen Macey, aged 31, from Copmanthorpe, is an associate director at Chesterton's Leeds office, where he provides project management services to major clients.

Mr Macey was born in Millfield Avenue, and went to Burnholme School and York Tech before going on to Liverpool John Moores University. He and his wife, Karen, live in School Lane with their children Daniel, four, and Chloe, 18 months.

He was appointed assistant building surveyor with Carter Jonas in 1986, building surveyor with Stratton Creber in 1991, regional building surveyor with WH Smith in 1993, senior building surveyor with WR Dunn and Co in 1995, and moved to his job at Chesterton in 1997.

Mr Macey said: "My aim is to assist in maintaining and developing the high profile of chartered building surveyors, between both the practising professionals and businesses across the region."
