CHILDREN and parents helped staff at Robert Wilkinson Primary School in Strensall celebrate achieving an award for quality.
The school has been awarded a quality mark by the Basic Skills Agency for teaching in literacy, numeracy and other basic skills.
Teachers had to build up a file of information about their work with pupils to gain the quality mark, which the school will keep for three years.
The school is the fifth in the York city area to achieve the award, under the guidance of City of York senior educational adviser, Gordon Pearce.
Head teacher Peter Feasby was presented with the award by Alan Wells, director of the Basic Skills Agency and invited parents in to help celebrate the achievement.
