READING Julian Cole's column about the two failed Lottery bids (September 28), it does show that it is the undeserving causes that seem to benefit. However as the bid was for only ten per cent of the total why let the Lottery have any credit at all? Why not encourage throughout your region a 'No Lottery Day' encouraging people not to buy a Lottery ticket for a day and give the money to our own special cause, St Leonard's.
I am sure that banks and building societies would collect the money for a Saturday and the results could be published in areas. Two or three of these perhaps would raise more than the bid put in for.
