A RESTRICTED stroke raised more than £400 for charity after Dennis Woodcock tackled a sponsored swim - wearing a strait-jacket.
The crazy swim, which also saw Mr Woodcock's legs tied together, made cash for New Earswick Swimming Pool's disabled club and the York Cancer Fund.
It covered 200 metres and took 11 minutes.
The time is now being sent to the Guinness Book Of Records.
Mr Woodcock said: "It was hard. In fact the last couple of lengths were pretty awful really.
"I had to swim in a dolphin-like style, and the real difficulty was controlling my breathing."
Mr Woodcock joined the disabled club 12 years ago after he had a hip replacement.
He became chairman soon after.
He said: "Disabled people have problems using normal swimming pools and this club makes it a lot easier for them.
"I've been swimming all my life, so to do an ordinary sponsored swim would be too easy. The strait-jacket was to make it more difficult."
