THIRSK trainer David Barron and Sheriff Hutton jockey Kevin Darley can ensure that tomorrow's showpiece event at Redcar, the £100,000 betabet.com Two-Year-Old Trophy, remains in the north.

The formidable partnership is represented by Dim Sums, who is strongly fancied to come out on top in this richly endowed contest.

Significantly Barron has had the race as his objective for Dim Sums for sometime and the youngster looks capable of obliging.

Beaten only once in four starts this season, the American bred juvenile won a valuable nursery at Newmarket on his latest outing in the style of a smart performer.

Elsie Plunkett, River Raven and Where's Jasper are among plenty others with solid claims in this six furlong dash, but Dim Sums is expected to do the business for Barron and Darley.

On a smart programme, combing quality with quantity, Redcar's biggest day of the year deserves plenty of support.

Punters should make a note of James Toller's Pagan King (2.40), who comes from a stable in top form, and also Nowell House (4.55), an easy winner at Catterick two weeks ago. Mick Easterby's gelding can score again under Gyles Parkin.

Lee Newman, the season's leading apprentice, can add a touch of quality to his achievements at Newmarket tomorrow by clinching the £120,000 Tote Cambridgeshire handicap.

Newman teams up with Aegean Dream, trained by his boss Richard Hannon, and the four year old is napped to gain a notable victory. Currently priced around 20-1, Aegean Dream looks a tempting proposition.

Tough and consistent, this dual winner in the summer gave confirmation of her continued well being at Newbury a fortnight ago when she finished fourth to Komistar, beaten little more than a length.

Furthermore, Aegean Dream looked an unlucky loser that day, failing to find a clear run through the final furlong and crossing the line still on a tight rein.

It was in that same race that Nooshman also suffered a rough passage in ninth place. And, like Aegean Dream, he was never able to find top gear.

Sir Michael Stoute's charge has been heavily supported this week and is now the ante-post favourite at around 4-1. He commands plenty of respect, but hardly looks good value in this 35-runner cavalry charge.

Man O'Mystery, runner-up in the John Smith's Cup at York in mid summer - finishing in front of Noosham - is another with sound claims, along with the hat-trick seeking Bound For Pleasure, the mount of last year's winning jockey Francis Norton.

But the riding honours this time are expected to go to Lee Newman, who can gain the biggest success of his career on the fit and fancied Aegean Dream.

The high class Newmarket programme also includes the £60,000 Peugeot Sun Chariot Stakes in which May Ball can oblige for the in-form John Gosden yard.

A progressive filly, May Ball is on a hat-trick after win at Ascot and Deauville. Upped in class here, she can score again in the hands of Jimmy Fortune.

Watch too for the fast improving Lord Alaska (4.10) and recent Doncaster winner Blue Reigns (4.45).
