The chances of finding Women's Institute calendar girls hobnobbing with the creator of children's TV classic Bagpuss, Oliver Postgate, and famous comic Barry Cryer in the same room at the same time are slim, but it happened in York when The Oldie magazine's Literary Lunch visited St William's College.
The lunch is held regularly in London, but Oldie spokesman Ben Tisdall said York was chosen this time because of "its unique atmosphere and the fact that we have a lot of readers here." Ben said the lunch had gone extremely well, and said the ladies of Rylstone WI, who famously stripped for a charity calendar, were "on top form." He added: "It has been both an enjoyable and successful trip to York and we hope to return soon."
