SCARBOROUGH battled to their third successive Nationwide Conference win in atrocious conditions with the wind and the rain howling straight down the pitch as they won 3-2 at Forest Green.

In the first half, Scarborough faced the teeth of the gale, but scored the only goal of the half when Steve Brodie left experienced keeper Nigel Spink on the floor to roll the ball home for his fifth goal of the season.

After the break, Simon Betts embarrassed the former Villa keeper again when he score direct from a corner and at 2-0 Neil Thompson's men should have been sitting pretty.

However, within a minute French teenager Romain Faure was harshly adjudged to have tripped Adrian Foster and former England man Tony Daley made no mistake from the spot.

However, when Gareth Williams, turned sweetly to shoot under Spinks to restore the two goal advantage, things looked better for the Seasiders.

But playing into the wind, Rovers battled back and with the Scarborough defence conceding too many free kicks, it was no surprise when Foster bundled in a second.

Williams had chances to increase the lead, but with Paul Ellender and Betts standing firm, the Scarborough defence made sure there was to be no late slip-ups.

The only black spots on the evening were the cautions picked up by Ellender and Williams, which means they will miss the game against Nuneaton at home in two weeks time.
