It's goodbye forever to Commercial Union and General Accident on Monday and hello to Norwich Union - a rebranding that will affect thousands of people in York.
Wellington Row and Yorkshire House, the two Ouse-side buildings in York will continue to be the headquarters for all the life assurance business and the workplace of about 2,300 people, once the marketing of the consolidated name begins in earnest on Monday.
A CGU Life spokesperson at York said: "Numbers will not fall within York and, broadly speaking, will rise over the next few years."
This is the latest in the continuing saga of brand name shape-shifting as continuing mergers have taken place, beginning with the fusion of Commercial Union with General Accident in CGNU in 1998 and followed by its merger with the Norwich Union earlier this year.
