A £35,000 extension which expands the Royal National Lifeboat Institution's depot at Thirsk Industrial Park by more than a third has proved plain sailing for Severfield-Reeve DesignBuild.
The work, which involved building a 6,200sq ft extension to the existing 13,000 sq ft warehouse, was commissioned by the RNLI to help it meet increasing demand for its mail order catalogues, which form a fundamental part of fundraising.
Thirsk-based Severfield-Reeve DesignBuild, a subsidiary of Severfield-Rowen plc, designed and built the existing depot facility in 1988 as part of the initial development on Thirsk Industrial Park.
The depot, which has 16 full-time staff and up to 35 part-timers, is the trading arm of the RNLI, which supports lifeboat stations all over the UK and the Republic of Ireland.
Among its many tasks is the sending out of more than 1.25 million mail order catalogues annually all around the world.
