Selby Rugby Union Club's Under-16s produced what is likely to be one of their best performances of the season despite going down 37-12 to their Yarnbury counterparts.
Selby began the game with 12 players to Yarnbury's 15 but stayed in touch in the first half, a Rob Falkingham try cancelling out the opener from Yarnbury.
Selby were then forced into a big stint defensive stint, Laverack, Tagert, Saunders and Venables all pulling off important tackles.
Yarnbury went ahead with a penalty and another try before Selby, reduced to 11 men after Sam Weller left the field for treatment, hit back with the try of the game. A superb sweeping attack ended with Sean Elliott feeding Ollie Saunders and looping round to collect a pass to score wide out.
That made the half-time score 15-12 to Yarnbury but in the last ten minutes Selby wilted and conceded three tries.
Other notable performances came from Marshall and Williams in the second row and the front row of Brook, Weller and Herbert.
Teamwork and discipline against a very determined Doncaster contingent saw Pocklington Under-16s record their third successive win of the season against their Doncaster counterparts.
Despite an unconverted try by Doncaster in the second half, penalty goals either side of the interval from full back Charlie Allen were enough to secure a well deserved 6-5 victory.
