YORK Acorn 'A' rugby league club picked up their first Yorkshire League division four point of the season with a creditable 20-20 home draw against Castleford Panthers 'A'.
Winger Paul Sawyer raced in for a hat-trick of tries, two of which were from long range.
Other notable performers for Acorn, who hit back from a 12-point deficit, were stand-off Gary Hill, prop Dave Murray and second rower Paul Payne.
Acorn's other points came from scrum-half Craig Fox, who kicked two conversions and two penalties.
Acorn Under-16s produced a battling display at Elland Boxers to win 14-0 in poor conditions.
The Blue and Golds restricted the home side to just a couple of threatening attacks with second row pair Leon Patterson and Andrew Scott, along with winger Lee Slater and scrum-half Chris Spain, all tackling well.
Hooker John Jewitt, stand-off Andy Henson and loose forward Michael Wildon were prominent in attack.
Acorn's points cams from prop Tom Lyons, Kyle Palmer and Henson with Jewitt kicking a goal.
Acorn Under-15s stormed to a comfortable 30-6 win at home to Half Acre.
Top performers were David Tanner, Mark Brooks and James Sanderson, with the latter scoring a try and three goals.
Also among the Acorn try-scorers was Chris Tinker.
Acorn Under-13s travelled to Stanningley and were beaten 28-4. They were trailing 22-0 before Adam Sellars got their only points with a try on the stroke of half-time.
They improved after the break with joint men of the match Adam Winterburn and Danny Caple to the fore but were unable to register any further points.
Acorn Under-9s carried on their winning streak when scoring nine tries and six conversions to Dewsbury Moor's five tries and five conversions.
Pick of the Acorn side in a tough tackling encounter were joint men of the match Robert Dickson and Anthony Chilton.
Their tries came from Ben Johnson (3), Stuart Leeke (2), Joshua Mortimer, Thomas Worthy, Liam Wilkinson and Anthony Chilton.
Goals were scored by Mortimer, Worthy, Johnson, Chilton, Wilkinson and Ricky James.
