Police called to a coach breakdown on the A1 in North Yorkshire arrived to find the vehicle under attack from a group of men.
Officers arrested 24 people for criminal damage and released them on police bail after the incident near Thirsk.
The coach was travelling from Liverpool to Sunderland when it broke down on the northbound A1 north of Thirsk.
Police said the coach was carrying a group returning from a private party who had stopped off in Wetherby to buy drink.
