YORK'S Jamie Warters' boxing-belt aspirations suffered a setback today with the news his British and Commonwealth title eliminator fight with Paul Bonson has been postponed.

However, Warters' agent, Dennis Hobson, revealed he is hopeful of rescheduling the Jorvik Warrior's clash with Wakefield-based Bonson for later next month.

Warters and Bonson were due to meet in an eliminator for the two major light-heavyweight crowns in Sheffield on October 2. Bonson's central area light-heavyweight belt would also have been up for grabs.

The promoters have been forced to pull the plug on that show after they were unable to find a replacement for top of the bill world title eliminator clash between Sheffield's Clinton Woods and Michael Nunn being postponed.

Woods, the European light-heavyweight champion, suffered a cut in training forcing his withdrawal.

Hobson said he has now pencilled in Thursday, October 19, for Warters' big night and was hoping to confirm the new date soon.

Sheffield will remain the venue with Warters likely topping the bill, he confirmed.

The Evening Press understands Scarborough is being touted as a possible venue for Paul Ingle's rescheduled world featherweight title defence with South African Mtubelo Botile.

Double world champion Ingle was due to meet Botile at the end of this month in Hull until a wrist injury hampered his preparations.

The fight will now take place on Saturday, November 11, with a spokesman for Panix Promoters admitting a couple of undisclosed venues in Ingle's home town were being considered to stage the fight.
