Firefighters were this afternoon tackling a massive fire in a barn at a North Yorkshire farm.
Two engines from Thirsk and Northallerton are at the scene of the blaze in a single storey barn at Low House Farm, Cowesby, near Thirsk.
Assistant divisional officer Graham Buckle said six cattle were rescued from the barn before firefighters arrived, but 200 tons of straw were well alight.
"Firefighters are currently engaged in protecting adjacent buildings," he added.
The preliminary assessment of the cause was that it was due to a faulty fluorescent light.
