A Malton garage has today opened Ryedale's first gas fuel pump.
JB Motors, of Wentworth Street, will sell the liquid petroleum gas (LPG) at a mere 40p a litre - less than half the price of petrol.
Andrew Ellis, sales manager for JB Motors, tried out an LPG converted vehicle. He said: "I couldn't believe it. It was just like driving a normal petrol engine car - but for half the price.
"The switch-over between petrol and LPG just cannot be noticed and it accelerates and performs exactly the same.
"I have no doubt that all the motorists I know will be interested in saving such a massive amount on their fuel bills."
The new facility was being officially opened today by Ryedale MP John Greenway. It was also being attended by Coun Norris Binner, Mayor of Malton.
