Former comrades met up once again as wartime memories were relived by women who served their country during the last war. The Women's Royal Army Corps Association (WRACA) staged its annual reunion for Second World War personnel at York Racecourse.
Pamela Nesbit, chairman of the association, said the reunion was one of the best ever staged. In total, 197 people from all over the North of England attended the reunion.
Their roles during the conflict were wide-ranging, with some operating guns, while others were drivers, cooks or clerks.
