Police today named the two people who died in the accident on the A64 at Golden Hill, near Malton, on Monday .
They were 49-year-old Janet Letch, who was the driver of the Ford Fiesta, and her daughter Hester Garner, 25, who was the rear seat passenger. Both lived at Falmouth Avenue, Bradford.
Police said that a three-year-old girl and a man, who were also in the Ford Fiesta, were recovering from serious injuries in York District Hospital and Leeds General Infirmary respectively.
Meanwhile, George and Doreen Bowser, of Scarborough, who were in the other car involved, are both recovering in the town's general hospital.
