A walker was airlifted to safety after being stranded half way up a cliff near Robin Hood's Bay.
Stuart Owen, 59, from Huddersfield, who was on holiday with his wife, was reported missing to police when he failed to return from a walking expedition by 5pm yesterday.
Wayne Armstrong, coastguard watch assistant for Humber Coastguard, said: "The helicopter picked him up and took him to Scarborough Hospital with no physical injuries apart from he was cold, wet and dehydrated.
"It appears he walked past the path to go back up and got cut off by the tide so he scrambled his way up and stayed there."
