GOOLE face a possible fine after being charged by the West Riding FA with misconduct of supporters over the incident in the Bank Holiday clash with Selby Town, writes Dianne Hillaby.

A Goole fan streaked on the pitch during the Northern Counties East League premier division match at Selby's Flaxley Road ground. Goole have sent a report to the FA and are waiting to discover their fate.

Club secretary Malcolm Robinson said: "It's a bit disappointing for us. We would immediately ban the supporter but unfortunately it's a man that does not regularly come to our matches - he just happened to be in Selby for the drinking and came to the game.

"It's a shame he will not really be penalised but the club could be."

In better news for Goole, David Laycock could make his debut at home to Buxton tomorrow after being released by Manchester City.

Selby Town have a difficult away clash with one of the NCL's favourites for promotion, Ossett Albion.

Ossett were crowned champions two years ago but were not promoted and performed disappointingly last season. However, big things are expected of them this year after Eric Gilchrist joined them as manager from Liversedge. He has snapped up eight new faces, seven of them from his former club.

But Selby will also be confident after their surprise 2-0 win over UniBond League outfit Winsford United in the FA Cup preliminary round replay on Tuesday.

Midfielder Nigel Croad is the biggest doubt after picking up a leg injury in the first game against Winsford on Saturday. Mark Turner sustained a head injury on Tuesday but is expected to be fit.

Pickering Town are without skipper Dean McAuley for their visit to Winterton Rangers in the NCL first division. He has been suffering from a knee ligament problem so is rested.

Lincolnshire outfit Winterton were comfortable 4-1 winners at Maltby Main last Saturday while the Pikes were losing 3-1 at UniBond League team Kendal Town in the FA Cup.

A young Pickering team beat York Colleges 4-1 in a midweek friendly and some of those players will be in contention tomorrow.

Tadcaster Albion will be hoping for better finishing than they showed in last week's 2-1 FA Cup win over Northern League side Evenwood Town.

They should really have had double figures and they cannot afford to miss so many chances at home to Hall Road Rangers tomorrow.

The visitors will be in high spirits after beating Worsborough Bridge 5-1 last week.

Harrogate Railway Athletic are without a game.

Jim Collis admits his Nestl Rowntree side face a tough task if they are to extend their opening winning sequence in the West Yorkshire League to seven games tomorrow.

Rowntrees travel to Whitkirk Wanderers with a depleted squad with both Alex Dewhirst and Dave Harvey ruled out because of work commitments.

Steve Ward also faces a late fitness test after coming off in Wednesday night's 2-0 win over York RI while manager Collis is hopeful that Neil Smallwood will have shaken off a bout of flu that forced him to call on veteran shot stopper John Reynolds.

"It will be another difficult game because Whitkirk are always a difficult side to beat," said Collis.

York RI sustained no injuries against Rowntrees so are likely to field a similar team for the visit of Carlton Athletic.

Manager Nigel Rhodes was happy with his side's first half performance against Rowntrees but said: "In the second half we were on top for 10 minutes then they hit us with two goals in five minutes which unsettled us. We missed two or three chances which could have got us a draw but Rowntrees deserved to win."

Knaresborough Town hope to be back to full strength for their trip to Rothwell Athletic.

Marcus Emptage and Adam Walker have missed the last two games with shin and ankle injuries respectively but both are expected to return against Rothwell, who were beaten 7-1 by Rowntrees last week.

Knaresborough hope to build on Wednesday's deserved 1-0 victory at Mount St Mary's when Adam Emptage, brother of Marcus, scored the only goal just before half-time.

Harrogate Town will be hoping to bounce back from Tuesday's 4-0 home defeat by Ossett Town when they travel to Ashton United in UniBond League division one.

New Earswick Under-19s have no game as their Northern Youth Academy match against Guiseley has been postponed.
