CANON Lee School in York will not re-open on Monday, September 11, as planned, it emerged this afternoon.
Building work has been going on over the summer to build a three-storey extension at the school.
Today the school said the work had not allowed the staff to get the school safe, secure and ready for teaching on Monday.
The headteacher Kevin Deadman, in consultation with senior officers from the City of York Council's education department, has decided to postpone the opening so that Year Seven children start on Wednesday afternoon and the rest of the school on Thursday morning.
