A FURTHER case of classical swine fever has been confirmed on a farm in the surveillance area on the coast of Suffolk, bringing to seven the number of cases confirmed since August 12. Possible links to the previous cases are being investigated. There are about 5,000 pigs on the farm and MAFF reported on Tuesday that they were to be slaughtered within a couple of days. The boundary of the infected area was being extended a little to the north. As a result, many farms will have these restrictions extended for a further period and a few new farms will be subject to movement restrictions.
