SIX more soldiers were today facing expulsion from the Army after testing positive for drugs.

The six Lowland Gunners, who are understood to be from Scotland, are now almost certain to be dismissed from their base at Catterick, North Yorkshire, an Army spokeswoman said.

The positive results come only hours after it was disclosed that ten soldiers based at Fort George, near Inverness, had been formally discharged after testing positive during a tour of duty in Germany.

The spokeswoman said drugs were not tolerated in the armed forces and the six would be ejected unless they could convince their superiors they had an exceptional case.

She was not able to say what drugs were involved or when the testing had been done.
