I WAS saddened to read (Evening Press, September 4) about the choirmaster in Wetherby being asked to resign by the vicar of the church and the majority of the choir and/or members being against that decision.
I feel that anyone in a position of leadership in a church should uphold the morals the Bible teaches. There can be no compromise. If you are a Christian you must follow the teachings in the Bible or else you are not a true follower of Christ.
The problem with most churches is that we have watered down the Gospel message and principles and not called people into accountability.
What is this world coming to that we don't expect people in leadership (especially in the church) to have high morals and lead lives that people can look up to?
I think that it is sad that the people of this church have even had the fight over this situation. I commend the vicar of this church and will pray for him and also for the members of the church.
