A ELDERLY man was taken to hospital after a fire at a bungalow near Harrogate.

The 86-year-old man was found by firefighters lying on the floor of the kitchen with a head injury, and suffering from smoke inhalation.

The fire at the bungalow in Nidd Rise, Birstwith, is thought to have started as a result of an electrical fault on a television. The lounge of the bungalow was severely damaged by the fire, while the rest of the property also suffered heat and smoke damage.
