NORTH Yorkshire hero Kevin Darley can reward his followers at York's historic first-ever Sunday meeting tomorrow by completing a treble on the bumper eight-race card sponsored by the Evening Press.

The Sheriff Hutton jockey, currently spearheading the championship, can start the day the way he means to go on by lifting the York Swallow Hotel Nursery Handicap on Time To Remember, trained by Tim Easterby.

Jointly owned and bred by Jim McGrath of Channel 4 racing, and his Timeform colleague Reg Griffin, Time To Remember scored at Pontefract two outings ago and has since finished a close-up fourth in a seven furlongs nursery at the big Ebor meeting on Knavesmire.

A keen-going type, Time To Remember drops back to six furlongs tomorrow and is expected to resume winning ways.

Darley can follow-up on Bacchus in the Sandersons Motorhouse York Claiming Stakes.

Trained at Norton by Julie Camacho, who is enjoying a fine season, Bacchus is not the easiest of rides, and has not got the best of draws, being berthed in stall 20 in this 27-strong field.

But he is a very capable performer on his day and, with Darley in the saddle, the six-year-old can land his second success of the campaign.

The £25,000 Minster Jaguar York Showcase Handicap, the feature race of the day, can also fall to Darley, who teams-up with Virgin Soldier.

Trained by Mark Johnston, who needs just one more success to register the fastest-ever 1,000 winners trained in Britain, Virgin Soldier has been in cracking form recently.

An excellent effort in the Tote-Ebor Handicap 11 days saw Virgin Soldier finish a very creditable fourth to Give The Slip. Top-weight may not anchor him tomorrow.

Darley teams-up with the promising Dance Director in the Flat Roof Maiden Stakes, but might have to settle for minor honours behind Royal Tryst, the mount of Fergal Lynch.

Trained by Sir Michael Stoute, Royal Tryst finished an excellent second on his debut at Newmarket last month and looks a useful colt in the making.

On a day of big fields when punters need luck as well as judgement to find winners, Jorrocks should have good prospects in the Monks Cross Shopping Park Quintin Gilbey Silver Trophy.

Mick Easterby's gelding has run well in both his races at Beverley and Newcastle and will appreciate the easing in the ground, Gyles Parkin has the mount and, in a wide-open race, the Nap vote is awarded.

The Polo Supermint Handicap could provide first-season trainer Michael Wigham with his first Knavesmire success, courtesy of Pacific Alliance, who scored at Musselburgh on Thursday. The front-running gelding is in 'pole position' in stall one and is fancied to take plenty of catching.
