Reigning World sidecar champion Steve Webster and passenger Paul Woodhead could clinch the 2000 title at Assen tomorrow.
York rider Webster will retain the crown if he beats nearest rival Klaus Klaffenbock by more than 12 points in tomorrow's race - the ninth round of the 12-round series.
Assen in Holland is a venue which should suit Webster - he has taken pole and won the race therer for the past three seasons.
But this year Klaffenbock has proved a much tougher customer.
Both Webster and Klaffenbock have four wins each but Webster has a healthy 38 point lead, helped by Klaffenbock's disqualification for a fuel infringement at Donington.
With 75 points still to play for it's not over yet, but if Webster beats Klaffenbock by more than 12 points he will retain the title.
The only way that could happen is for Klaffenbock to suffer a mechanical breakdown - he hasn't had one yet this year, and his team seem to have what it takes to keep his bike reliable.
