YORK'S first Sunday race meeting looks set to draw the crowds this weekend.

And forecasts of bright weather are promising to make it a winner.

Sunshine, blotted only by the occasional shower, is on the cards for the meeting.

And racegoers are looking forward to a bumper day of action with an eighth race added to the day.

The event, sponsored exclusively by the Evening Press, will now see 136 horses battling it out through the day.

Gates open at 11.30am, with the first race at 2pm.

The racing will continue until 5.50pm.

Sunday racing is expected to bring in bumper crowds, and is designed to be attractive to families.
