Pipalong, a gallant third in last week's Nunthorpe Stakes at York, can clinch prestigious Group 1 glory on the other side of the Pennines tomorrow.

Tim Easterby's admirable filly travels to Haydock to contest the £150,000 Stanley Leisure Sprint Cup and has an excellent chance of landing the lion's share of the richly-endowed spoils.

Pipalong found the switch back to five furlongs, especially on fast ground, against her on Knavesmire, but she produced a typically gritty display all the same to take third place beind Nuclear Debate and Bertolini.

Tomorrow's six furlongs on easy ground will suit Pipalong ideally and she is fancied to turn the tables on Lincoln Dancer, who finished a whisker in front of her when the pair were involved in a nail-biting three-way photo-finish to the July Cup, won by Japanese raider, Agnes World.

A cracking race is in store, and Nap selection Pipalong has what it takes to emerge triumphant.

Polar Red, another who will revel on the forecast good-to-soft ground, is taken to clinch the opening stanleyacropolis.co. Rated Handicap and complete a hat-trick of wins. Philip Robinson has the mount on Mick Ryan's much-improved three-year-old.

Such was the domination of Boldly Goes in a seven furlongs handicap on soft ground at Newcastle on Monday that a 6lb penalty may not anchor him as he bids for a quick double in the Stanley Racing Handicap over the same distance.

Charles Booth, who trains at Foston, between York and Malton, is long overdue a winner, but his barren spell could finally come to an end, courtesy of Saphire in the stanleybet.co.uk Handicap over five furlongs.

Two good efforts recently confirm Saphire in excellent heart and underfoot conditions tomorrow will be perfect for her. John Reid has the mount.

A reminder that autumn is here is provided by Thirsk staging their final meeting of the season.

The £10,000 Tote Scoop6 Hambleton Cup is the feature event and Summer Song is a little difficult to oppose.

Ed Dunlop's filly has gone from strength to strength this season, winning five races, including a handicap at Beverley last Sunday.

Although still unproven over this distance of a mile and a half, Summer Song looks sure to stay the extra couple of furlongs. She will take plenty of beating.

The Black Cat Fireworks Fillies' Handicap looks a good opportunity for Flying Carpet to gain her second success of the season. Tim Easterby's three-year-old has run well in defeat since scoring at Beverley last month.

Also worth noting is Daylily (5.10), who got no sort of run at Beverley last Saturday when finishing fifth in a similar race over five furlongs.

At Kempton, the £35,000 Milcars September Stakes can go to Alva Glen, trained by Sir Michael Stoute.

An unlucky sixth in the Tote-Ebor Handicap, this progressive three-year-old gained quick compensation when winning a Listed race at Goodwood last Saturday. He can now step up to Group 3 glory.

Tarfshi (2.05) and Literary Society (3.15) are two others to note.
