I HAVE read with interest the discussion concerning pay for executive members of the council.

Having attended many meetings with them in recent years, all of which take place during their own time, I can only advise that they are entirely deserving of this remuneration.

They have to deal with a number of complex issues requiring a large degree of intellect, focus, consideration and people skills and the majority of their meetings extend well into the evening.

In my view they represent good value for the city.
