TREVOR Kidd wrote about the removal of potential business from York by competing schemes, mentioning the £60,000 marina an hour away on the East Coast (August 15).
How accurate is his research as the August Yachting Monthly magazine gave this statement by Jack Wain: 'At a public meeting in May at Bridlington, local opposition to the proposed Yorkshire Marina project seemed to focus on installing a wurlitzer-type theatre organ in the Spa Hall as an alternative - which would attract visitors to Bridlington from all over the world".
The other area for proposed harbour development was in Whitby and this has also been opposed.
