YORK City intermediates kick-start the defence of their Football League Youth Alliance North East Conference title at home to Hartlepool tomorrow.
The match, at the club's Wigginton Road training complex, kicks-off at 11am.
City's head of youth development, Paul Stancliffe, said he was delighted with the York youngsters, including the five new first year trainees, had progressed through pre-season.
"They have worked really hard after what seems to have been a really long pre-season," said the one-time City skipper.
The City teenagers returned for training before their senior counterparts and have seen the start of their own campaign delayed by a week due to the way the fixtures have been compiled.
The youngsters have suffered just one defeat during an arduous pre-season programme, losing 2-0 to Barnsley Under-19s.
"That was the only game in which I was not that pleased with the performance but otherwise I have no complaints with how the players have worked.
"Of course, the proof of the pudding will come
