I AGREE with Vikki Helperin that what is needed at Clifford's Tower is a park or garden (August 22). This will give the tower the room it deserves. As for the rest of the development, why not use the land to extend the Castle Museum? I seem to remember an article a few weeks ago saying that they had lots of items in storage.
And what about constructing a new street in the 1950s era, thus keeping the museum up to date (if that's not a contradiction), and helping to boost York's tourist industry.

...WE need more open space in York. Somewhere to relax, a nice place for people to go after going shopping or visiting the museums. What about boat rides up to the shopping centre car park in Piccadilly? We don't need more buildings or more shops. We have too many empty shops already. Just look at what is empty: the old Presto in Rougier Street, Victoria House and shops in Stonegate Walk.
