THE boss of a York adult shop is to go on trial, accused of offering to sell "hardcore" sex videos that weren't hard enough.
And to settle the case, magistrates may have to watch videos with titles like Secrets Of A Sensuous Nurse, Talk Naughty To Me and Confessions Of A Sex Maniac.
They will need to establish whether Nick Griffin, owner of The Adult Shop in Gillygate, was trading material that was not as erotic as it was billed.
Griffin denies 15 allegations brought against him by City of York Council trading standards department.
Six charges, which accuse Griffin of offering to sell videos with a false trade description, namely the title "hardcore", relate to six pre-recorded videos. The remaining three titles were Alice Goodbody, The Bride, and Out For Blood.
Griffin, of Clee Crescent, Grimsby, is also accused of failing to give information about the ownership of his business to trading standards officer Richard Withers.
The company, Griffin Star Printing Company Ltd, based in Grimsby, which Griffin represented in court, is accused of six identical counts of offering videos with an allegedly false trade description.
The company is also charged with possessing copies of Alice Goodbody and Secrets Of A Sensuous Nurse which, it is claimed, had not been given a certificate by the British Board of Film Classification.
The case was adjourned for a trial to be held on November 2.
It is expected magistrates will have to watch the videos to establish whether they are "hardcore" or not.
