FIFTH division Ovington came up against in-form third division outfit Clifton Alliance and were duly ousted in the semi-finals of the Prendergast Memorial Trophy.
Batting first Dean Wharton and Alan Fletcher both progressed to reach the 20 mark for Ovington, but none of their colleagues made it into double figures.
The bowling of Tony Edwards and Jimmy Ledgeway proved particularly difficult and they dismissed Ovington for 75.
Clifton were soon into their stride with Paul Thorpe unbeaten on 25 and Mike Robinson hit 27 as they raced to a nine wicket win.
Their opponents in the final will be Burton Salmon, who were involved in an incredible finish against Wistow.
Burton were coasting along at 143 for two with David Olde and Adrian Davies when play was halted by rain.
On the resumption the game swung very much in Wistow's favour as Mick Bell and Ian Jennings took full advantage of the freshened wicket to peg Burton back to 180 for nine.
The game was evenly placed as Wistow reached 76 for three when the Lawlers, David and Peter, came together and added 95 runs before Burton broke through. Even at this stage of the game, Wistow, who were very much favourites, needed ten to win from five overs and with two wickets left.
Simon Warner was suddenly unplayable, taking three wickets, all bowled, allowing Davies to bowl his only over which cost seven runs but saw two vital wickets fall as Wistow lost their last seven wickets for eight runs, Burton winning a totally absorbing game by one run.
Pocklington's Ian Camwell made a superb unbeaten ton as his side drew with Dringhouses in the East Riding Sunday Cricket League.
Camwell ended up not out on 108 as Pocklington made 187-6, but they were unable to secure victory as the rain ended Dringhouses reply at 57-0.
Even though they were inactive, Hornsea have tightened their grip at the top of the league.
Heworth, due to cup commitments, were unable to field a team and had to concede the points to Hornsea.
Acomb's strong form continued with a five wicket win over Beverley.
Dominda Perera played a prominent role for the victors taking two wickets for just two runs as Beverley were ousted for 97 and then hitting 42 as Acomb raced to success.
