North Yorkshire Under-14s played a Suffolk County U14's touring side at the Recreation Ground, Pickering, and suffered a six-wicket defeat.
Batting first North Yorkshire were in trouble from the off when opener Nathan Briggs was caught in the slips by a very good take from the first ball of the match.
North Yorkshire grafted out a total of 139 with the main contributors being Michael Flemming (36), Andrew Flemming (23) and Matthew Pearson (22).
R King was the only Suffolk bowler to make an impact with his spell giving him a return of 4-40.
Suffolk, who the previous day had been beaten by a young Scarborough side, set about their innings in fine style.
They punished the North Yorkshire bowling attack of Pearson and John Cook, who didn't pitch the ball up to the bat, and the runs duly flowed.
Bowling changes were made, but to no avail as the Suffolk side soon reached the required target of 140 with only the loss of just four wickets.
Notable batting performances for Suffolk came from R Hobley 23, A Trett 32 and T Huggins not out 35.
Yorkshire 2nds cricket matches have been more widely played in the York area than was first thought.
As reported in the Evening Press last week, Stamford Bride Cricket Club have been asked to stage the match between Yorkshire 2nds and Hampshire 2nds, the game starting on September 6.
It was believed that the only other ground in the area to have hosted a minor counties match was Clifton Park, York.
However, it has been revealed that Tadcaster Magnets Sports and Social Club staged three Yorkshire matches curing the 1960s.
