LAST year's champions, Scarcroft, were beaten by Bert Keech 'C' in the quarter-finals of the York Veterans' Bowling League Championship play-offs at Shipton.
The score was only 9-9 after 13 ends, then Scarcroft scored four shots to lead 13-9.
Bert Keech replied at the next end with six shots to lead 15-13 and then scored a further six shots at the last three ends to win 21-13 and end Scarcroft's reign.
Dunnington 'C' led 16-5 after 11 ends against Dunnington 'A', who then staged a recovery to trail by only one shot playing the last end. The 'C' team managed to hang on however, scoring two shots at the last end to win 19-16.
West Park 'B' were well in command against a weakened Barbican team and led 16-8 with four ends to playand eventually won 22-13.
In the semi-finals played at Dringhouses, West Park 'B' got off to a flyier against Holgate, leading 15-0 after six ends.
After 11 ends West Park led 24-4 and even though Holgate scored at the next six ends, the deficit was too much to pull back. West Park 'B' ran out winners 25-14.
The other semi-final was much closer. Bert Keech 'C' took a 6-1 lead after six ends against Dunnington 'C', who fought back to lead 11-10 after 13 ends. However, at the 14th end Bert Kech won the last three ends to triumph 21-12.
The final and third and fourth place play-off will take place at Acomb on Thursday, August 31, at 2pm.
