THE River Ure at Ripon had been up and down during the week but was back to normal level for Sunday's 51 peg Hemsley Cup.
York angler Steve Hodson (RSPS) scored another classy win from his favourite venue from the cages peg above Hewick Bridge.
After taking five chub on bomb and maggot he switched to waggler alternating maggot, bread and grub to add another 13 chub, several dace and a 2lb perch to finish well ahead of the pack on 51-4-0.
Graham Skirrey scored for new sponsors Turners Tackle taking second from end peg 220 at Hutton Beck mouth. Working with stick and maggot he had an 8lb barbel, six chub plus lots of chublets and dace for his 36-2-0.

Over half of the 37 entry weighed over 5lb in Saturdays Tadcaster open on the Wharfe at Smaws Ings. With next weeks event being combined with the Leeds summer league a big turn out is on the cards. Gerry Eastwood (Castleford) led fro peg 17 where he feeder fished worm for three bream plus some perch and 15-7-0.
Steve Smith (Airborough) was on peg 56 where he took 2 chub on feeder plus 7lb of perch on stick and maggot for his 13-10-0;

Weights were down at Woodlands with heavy, cooling rains the culprit. Dave Gill (Group 5) triumphed in Saturday's 71 pegger with 33-5-0 from Partridge 13. Fishing pole and pellet at eight metres he was kept busy with a succession of small carp and tench. Ian Bowman (MAP Elton) continued his good run with 30-6-0 from Partridge 30. Like the winner he had lots of small carp but had to keep alternating the baits to keep the fish coming.

The entry for Leeds' Saturday event on the Wharfe at Tadcaster was down to 33 with peg 152 providing the winner again. Bill Collier (Union) took full advantage and waggler fished caster for 19-2-0 of small chub. Clive Stokes (Selby) took second with a bream plus chublets and dace from 154 for 12-0-0.
Others: Chris Stogdale (Leeds) 11-15-0; Ian Walker (Lower Wharfe Angling) 11-2-0.
The River Swale was carrying around 18 inches of coloured water making life hard for the 115 entry Alan Howe Lower Swale champs with only four double figure nets recorded. Steve Edson (Otley) was an easy winner with 30-4-0.
Drawn below Helperby village he fished stick float and maggot over hemp and caster for 5 barbel and a single chub. His biggest fish was 7-8-0. Ken Close (RSPS) was second in the middle Swale champs a few weeks ago and took runners up spot again. Drawm by the seat in Helperby Village he took 19-2-0 of small chub on stick float and grub.
