JOHN Pidcocks's final running bowl salvaged a draw for York RI Amateurs Bowls Club in their match against an English Bowling Association representative side.
The EBA side, featuring president John Austin and players from as far and wide as Kent, Oxfordshire and the Isle of Wight, held a narrow seven shot advantage after the opening five ends.
Their lead increased to 11 shots by the tenth end but RI, celebrating their 65th anniv-ersary, reduced the deficit to one shot by the 15th end and then took a three shot advantage by the 18th end.
With five rinks finished and the sixth rink having played 20 ends, RI, who won four rinks, held a one shot lead.
However, the EBA held a matchwinning three shots lie until Pidcock reduced their advantage to just one shot and force a draw, 120 shots each.
