Dunnington A scored a narrow 47-46 away victory over Wilberfoss in the Graham Wykes York and District Tennis League's handicap knockout quarter-finals.
The handicap competition ensured that Dunnington, despite winning every match, were always being pushed closely by Wilberfoss and it needed a 10-2 victory from Suzie Booth and Joyce Rhodes to ensure the visitors victory.
Sherburn were too strong for Wheldrake as they came through 64-59, good performances from mixed pairing of Jonathan Sharp and Espiner, who won 10-2, and the men's doubles partnership of Sharp and Richard Wilton, who won 11-1, being the pick of their performance.
Civil Service defied their heavy handicapping against Stillington to score a 49-35 success and Rowntree Park just edged out Dunnington 59-56.
In the semi-finals, Sherburn-in-Elmet will face Dunnington A, while Civil Service take on Rowntree Park. The semis are to be played on September 10, with the final to be staged on neutral courts on Sunday, September 24, at 2pm.
